Goodwill Work in Japan Necessitates Missionary Insurance
Written by Daniel Phillips on April 1, 2011 – 4:28 pmAS the recovery effort continues in Japan, citizens from around the world are stepping forward to provide their assistance. While this is most certainly a noble investment of one’s time, it is not without danger. Any time you volunteer in a country that has been harmed by a natural disaster, there are certain risks that you assume. To make sure you can access affordable healthcare in the event something does happen, you will need missionary insurance.
It is difficult not to be moved by the harrowing footage and photos coming out of Japan. Seeing the staggering numbers of missing citizens and seeing the damage done to homes and buildings has compelled many people to help in the best way they know how; by actually visiting the country and lending a hand. This is an especially brave act considering the fear of radiation currently engulfing the area, as well as the threat of additional possible injury and illness to volunteer workers.

Beat Jet Lag – Tips and Tricks
Written by Daniel Phillips on March 27, 2011 – 4:48 pmWhen you’re jetting home for the holidays, traveling to your new university or heading off on vacation, the last thing you need is jet lag. Arm yourself with travel insurance and advice on how to lessen the impact of jet lag on your next trip.
Jet lag makes you tired, disorientated, dehydrated and unmotivated – not the best start to a college term or vacation. How can you beat it? Start out rested – make sure you have a good amount of sleep and rest before you start to travel. Sleep – if you can sleep on the plane, do so. Take ear plugs, eye mask and a travel pillow.
Drink lots of water and avoid too much alcohol, caffeine and sugary drinks. Try to get up and walk around the plane, and do some foot and leg exercises, to help prepare your body for being back on land.
When you arrive, get as much natural light as you can before bedtime. Try to spend a relaxing night and adjust to the new time zone by keeping to the same timetable as your destination. With travel insurance and a positive flight plan you can make the most of every vacation or school moment.

Health Savings Accounts Are The New Retirement Accounts
Written by Lindsay Torres on March 26, 2011 – 7:36 amHealth savings accounts are becoming the IRA of choice with escalating health care costs. These special accounts work with high-deductible health insurance plans to let you save with tax-free interest to pay for health care and take tax deductions for medical expenses.
Health savings accounts keep the tax-free interest IRA benefit and add tax deductions for contributions to the health savings account (HSA).
If you don’t need HSA funds for health care, you can save the money for when you retire. Funds in this type of savings account roll over year after year. Some financial experts recommend to contribute the maximum allowed to an HSA before starting an IRA or Roth because you can withdraw money tax-free from an HSA to pay for qualified health care. On the other hand, you will not be able to spend HSA funds on anything other than health care until you turn 65.
Health savings accounts have benefits long before you retirement, though. 1) You can save for health care throughout your working years to help if you are unemployed or working where no health plan is available.

These are sometimes, perhaps unfairly, referred to as ‘the small print’ – with the implication being that the insurer is somehow trying to sneak something past you on your home insurance policy.
This is certainly a misperception.
In fact, these conditions exist to help clarify what cover the policy provides for your holiday home and therefore, they are intended to help you understand the nature of the insurance you are purchasing.
It is, therefore, imperative that you fully understand what these conditions mean – and any obligations you may have under the terms of your policy (such as keeping the property well maintained, notifying the insurer if you are undergoing any structural renovations or changing the usage). These co
